Home again, home again, we went to " The Last Straw Ale house" you won't believe this, the special, wait for it, was, "camel" baby "back" ribs. A very pleasant time and the food was plentiful and adequate. It's hockey nite tonite, have fun tomorrow. Dave, who was the 'we'? If it was you and Helen, whatever did she eat? Surely not camel baby back ribs. Can you not find somewhere scriptural where they serve jaw bone of an ass?

Am I right to assume that you had the special? I note the adequate in your post, that sounds like the place was not super duper. Does camel taste like venison? I can't imagine what a full grown camel rib might be like on my plate probable have 6 inches hanging over each side, one of those deals that if you can eat the full 3 pounds of meat you get to eat free. Something I can no longer do, eat a big meal. No matter how good my intention I get half way through and have to give up. I take a pill for Vit D another for C and since the last blood test I have to take Zinc. Give it a few years and I shall eat all my meals out of little bottles from the health food shop, at least I wont need teeth, just a little water and swallow.

Mike, James...me thinks he speaks with a forked tongue!! Dave that is. I am sue you both took his post with a LARGE pinch of salt!! He made a joke while we were there. We had never been there before, but it was close to the house of friends of ours, so we met them there..It as he mentioned is called "The Last Straw". he wondered why they had not picked up on that, and used it in their menu, calling the baby-back-ribs..camel as in the last straw which breaks the camels back. He felt it good enough to include in his post. I have told him before that people cannot know when he is joking , unless he uses a smily. Needless to say, there was no Camel! The food was good..I had the haddock and rice. You are right Mike...most things on the menu's anywhere are hard for me to find anything that I can eat. Which is one reason we don't eat out too often. Meat and potatoes are okay if the meat is small and tender and I chew well..but being a pub..they had no potato's other than chips with everything. He is out now, gone to his watering hole. If it is any good, I am sure we will update here. LOL Talking of updates...Mike please update us after your dental work..and also on the 'next' step.
Blessings...H

Look at that, a whole post on the "straw and camel" and I didn't pen any of it!. Laying that aside, Good time at the watering hole/ church, if they keep moving the way they are, it could be "body ministry" on the menu. A bro from Guatemala shared of the new work they are in with helping street girls, quite a transition for them as most of their work has been up 'til now up country, Two weeks ago, some teenagers took a "joy" ride down the Bob sled track on an improvised sled and ran headlong into a gate, killing two twins and injuring the rest, one very seriously and it was this one the Bro was here to visit, all I think attended Centre St church, his nephew is recovering but stands in need of prayer. Then another family had just come back from India and shared their trip with us, don't you wish the the world leaders would stop making swords and make ploughs instead, so much heartache and poverty. Rick the "man" starts a series next week on " build MY church" with the admonition to be prepared to interact on that thought. Who remembers singing this, " The Lord thy God in the midst of THEE is mighty; he WILL save, he WILL rejoice over THEE with joy; he WILL rest in his love, he WILL joy over THEE with singing, now THAT"S my Lord. James, I liked the no teeth thought, made me wonder why Mike's bothering

Why do they continue to make swords you ask. I think it is all to do with reviving the world economy, have a good war and make big profits.
Not one of the leaders has ever considered that if they did turn swords in to ploughs then they would save millions. The main problem I suspect is who is going to go first, and second how does one employ all those who have been churning out guns. Kalashnikov invented a rifle and made nothing from it, he then invented an umbrella that you press a button and it shoots open and made a fortune. Must be a moral in there somewhere?

I was beginning to think the "rupture" had taken place and all the forum members had gone . But it seems you're still here to James. Kalashnlkov sort of fits James's 3vs 11 saying " can sweet and bitter come from the same source" para- edition. While working at the F 18 fighter base in Cold Lake, I got to look at a stripped down cannon that it has, made by General Electric, buy a washer and dryer and get one free. The Sten gun which was still in service when I was in the Army, was supposedly made for seven and sixpence, small investment, large return. I hope James, all is well at the vicarage? I found this scripture in 1 Peter 4vs 12 " Beloved do not be surprised at the ordeal that has come to test you, you are sharing what Christ suffered; so rejoice in it" and in 1 Tim 1vs 12 " He tested me ere He entrusted me" Way's trans. It's sometimes hard I find to see purpose in testing, and then to rejoice "in" it, especially when it's someone close. Oh well, a bit for the waffle edition. I've never heard of the Way's trans but I liked the thought of "testing precluding the entrusting" Oh whoops, I hear the bleating of odd dog, must be time for my walk.

Ways translation is a new one to me. All is well at the Vicarage, even though we are aware the future is just a little hazy as yet. Try as one might it seems very hard to get the right proffesional people to respond to contact asking for their assistance. I am seeking a chat with a solicitor but he does not return our calls, which is odd to say the least as we would be a new client. I am so glad that we have the 5 acres, at lest there is no need for an odd dog walk twice a day. Ours take themselves for a walk, although they do see a lot happier when they have company walking around with them, something to do with the pack instinct no doubt. Rachel has to attend another assessment interview with the department of health and pensions to see if she can have another years allowance. It is as if they think she will suddenly get better and find a job as a managing directors P A. Do any of the government departments live in the real world?

Thanks James on vicarage update, you're right about the wisdom of this world, who can know it?? I think the governments of this worlds greatest fear is " common sense" I was reading in John 8, the woman caught in the "act" and Jesus doing his thing, setting people free, why is it that religion always seeks to accuse the spirit led life? vs 32 and 33 say " And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" " They answered him, we be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man, how sayest thou. Ye shall be made free?" Then in the next Chp, it's the healing of the blind man, I wonder if any of the Jews got the point? they were prisoners of sin and prisoners of religion, but not in bondage, go figure that. Got to go, see a man about a chicken.

"Staying in touch with God" obviously does not mean with the brethren, as seen by the lack of response here, as as I am told the other sites are active, I draw the conclusion this is not the one. So, in the words of the old song " thanks for the memory" and as Paul ended his letters with " The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all, Amen." See you in the HIS plan.

Being part of a forum, to me is close to those who see the Adams as perfect. They talk the talk, sign up with glad proclamation and then like a Hollywood film fade into the distance never to be seen again. All the while protesting that they are "with you". Perfect they are not and no surprise since neither were the Adams.
For some considerable time this site has been no more than 'The Famous Five' (see Enid Blyton) so it is no wonder that like all thinks change is happening. James

Who will be the "last one left, with responsibility to turn out the lights?" Or, looking at it another way, "Will the Captain be the last one to leave his sinking ship?"

I have been unwell - but in all honesty a certain discussion on Mikes other forum discouraged me - then a certain member decided that he would not leave the subject alone and started up endless threads on the same subject- sounded like a resounding gong.
I am tired of the thick line people put between things - you are wrong if you do not 'have 'certain things, right if you do,wrong if you have them right if you don't.
So I have chosen to withdraw because it has left a horrible taste in my mouth, so yes, I signed up but I have the right to exercise my choice as to whether I contribute - this site was not seen as the most important when SIT1 was in operation - it seems that this site is merely used when their is no alternative, I will join in , but when I feel able to xx
I have been dealing with a virus and migraine- had to take time off work, which is unusual for me - finally beginning to feel human again !!

I've learned (the hard way) to no longer do the censorship thing which pleases some and displeases others. People (members) stay or leave as they wish, and no longer will I allow that to worry me.

Who you choose to have as members is not any of my business Mike, or how you run the forum - its your forum - I was merely explaining to an earlier post about being committed to the forums, and explaining why I had taken a step back this week. I find it hard keeping up with all three, and yet there are some people on each who I would like to keep in contact with- I am far from being the most important poster as I am not regular at posting- however if I choose to stay in one place and remove myself from the others , it is good to know that it would not worry you xx
Rita
Apologies for this being part of your place Dave xxxxxx

You know Rita, the secret is knowing when to withdraw and ignore what all the hype is about. twinc is sometimes fun, he does get people to discuss, you just have to talk with those who are talking and overlook his silly comments that go nowhere. I know, he gets up my back at times but then so does my 5 year old grand daughter . I think they are of a similar age in fact.
Looks as if Mike has now given up the internet as it is part of the beast, watch this space. James

James, reading your post made me really hungry!! We are meeting friends this afternoon for a meal...I am in the mood for good old fish and chips! I hope that they ARE indeed good. ( now is that Good, or is that Perfect?!! enjoying that thread )
Dave, your "we only use good Canadian chicken legs, none of those Chinese ones" ..made me laugh out loud! Almost as good as you "passing a pear tree"..ref Mike's post. it was designed to just eat the fruit and let the tree live on - twinc
