Love it Rita.
Many years ago - 1984 - we went to the Dales bible week in a borrowed tent and I was a bit scared as I'd never camped before. I prayed about it and God gave me a line from that scripture, "no disaster will come near your tent" and I believed Him.
The first night there was a almighty thunderstorm - York Minster was hit by lightening - but I kept on believing as all round us people were out in the rain either tightening guy ropes or evacuating their tents for more substantial shelter. I woke but didn't worry and Ray slept through it all. The only 'casualty' of that night was my wooden pepper grinder which had been touching the side of the tent and got wet causing it to split down one side. When it dried out though it was as good as ever and each time I use it I remember God's grace to us on that scary night.

Thanks for sharing that Poppy. When I read ' tent ' I heard ' home ' - So it spoke to me about my fears with Dan. Lol - dentist was ok, I was fearful of the dentist saying there was something wrong with my cap so he would make money ( he does that sometimes !! ) - but he checked the tooth and cap in a way that I was involved and could tell he was properly checking it- there is no problem. So I am just dealing with sensitivity, and it has been a lot better this week. I was so worried that I would have to pay out over 200 pounds at a time I am pushed anyway. I also hate injections, to day was just a check up- so I normally have to wait for another app , this causes me anxiety. Well, he had time to do a filling the and then, so I had no time to get anxious. All in all a good app. Thank you Lord x

Sounds like that had God's hand all over it. Will Sensodine toothpaste not help with the - hopefully temporary - sensitivity? We are going to see the baby this afternoon - can't wait. Hope I'll be able to get pics.

So sorry to hear that James, I sit here wondering what Bulgarian dentists are like- that's the sort of thing that would go through my mind if I was to need dental work in another country. If I was in Germany with my brother, would not worry at all as they are just so modern and affective- if I had problems while in Cyprus, I would not have felt so confident. My dentist is kind of in between the two- had a brilliant dentist where I use to live, very modern. Really hope you can get this sorted James, toothache is one of those nagging pains that can drive you nuts. Must admit that my tooth has been absolutely fine this past week- can stress and worry affect your teeth, I was wondering whether I was worried about it being an expensive problem to sort out, the reassurance took that out of the equation and seemed to have resolved the nagging aches.

True Ivor but that is not the problem. One has to registered with a doctor before one can be registered with a dentist. This means paying for the Bulgarian welfare first and being in the system. This we did but somehow Jeanette was registered as being born on the 19th of December, which messed up the Bulgarian system and they now say they are trying to find someone who understands the software to put it right. Result is Daniel and I will go to "get one" the doctors list on Monday and Jeanette will register when the computers can be sorted out. Life is sometimes most odd, how the other half live.
Interswtingly Rita Bulgaria is one place recommended for health tourism a tooth implant is about 500 compared to 1700 in England. Lots of stuff is done in the private hospitals here, very popular for a boob job.

Hope you get into the system soon then James, and I am pleased that they have good health care-so do you have to pay a lot in to the system now that you are out there, through insurance. I know my brother and his wife have to pay quite a bit each month, but the health/ dental care is amazing. If you weren't in the system, how did it work when you were recently Ill, did you have to pay for your time in the hospital, or did you get some kind of insurance set up before you moved out there.

The hospital time I had to pay for it was around 5 BGN a day total 20 something as I remember and the exchange rate is 2.2 BGN to the £. Before we left we all took out the free European health card, which gives access to free emergency treatment. We have now joined the health service over here which is 16 BGN a month, but one does have to buy the drugs that one is prescribed. Some are not cheap, thank God you live in a country that gives a handful of drugs for one prescription charge.
While in England I had a private health fund through my company. Now when I look back I see it would have be expedient if I had not had the private health insurance but rather put the money in some form of deposit account for operation expenses. I would be sitting here now with around £20000 in the bank rather than in the insurance companies bank.

Did everything go okay i registering with a doctor- how is your tooth? Well I am gearing up to return to work later this week - the last six weeks has given me a taste of what retirement would be like, must admit I have enjoyed it. I have had quality time with my children, been able to support my dad without rushing around, spend more time talking things through with Dan and just having time to think and reflect. I still have to be careful, so it will not be back to work in quite the same way.
Not sure how Dan will be. He has just started reading George Orwells book ' 1984 ' - apparantly it's really popular again since the alternative fact issue arose a few days ago. I have never read the book, I struggled with his book ' animal farm ' at school - just never got the real message !!!!

Just to keep you posted Rita, Daniel and I have paid for the coming years health care and so have been able to enrol at the doctors, he must upload our information from his computer to the centre base and so we can not be seen as a health patient before the 5th of Feb. Same goes for the dentist.
Glad you feel strong enough to return to work, will they put you on light duties? I would think that dad and dan will miss having you around, must have been a real blessing to them.

Hi James, Yes, I go back to light duties, very much in my hands with regards to what I do- also I am able to phase in my return so that I can pace how many hours i do- really not sure I can cope with suddenly being on my feet for seven hours on the first day I return. My dad doesn't want me to go back to work, but it's not an option - I did tell him to do the lottery, then if he wins he can pay for me to retire early x Dan, I am not sure, he does like his own space. So I think he will quite like the house being his again during the day x Pleased you are getting everything sorted xxxx Rita

Rita things are being sorted out but it all takes so much time, everyone moves at a snail pace. The other thing is whatever one does 'it costs'. You open a bank account and it cost, you order a debit card there is a cost, you pay the electric bill and there is extra cost since the3 bill comes after the due date so they add a small fine. You just keep paying out endlessly. If God was not in this one could think that we had made a mistake. God is good and in the end it will all work out and if not then it is not the end!!

It's just getting use to how Bulgaria does things, and I guess you don't know these things until you are actually living there- must take many by surprise. All the best as you adapt x

Rita it is more like how Bulgaria does not do things. In November Jeanette Daniel and I all signed up for the health system. We paid up to the end of the year, but for some odd reason they would not let us sign for a doctor because we had not reached the end of the year and we needed to sign after the new year started. That worked for us men, but for some stupid reason they put Jeanette's birth date as 2016. They now had a minor on the health system. Our solicitor is dealing with this and each day he says they are going to phone me tomorrow, they do and say it is not fixed yet. All they have to do is change the date to the correct one, they say this is a problem as the software does not let you change what has been put in. I do not believe this, no one could make a system so stupid, or could they?
Still no doctor for Jeanette and we are now into Feb.

Must be very frustrating James - I guess they only find out that there are problems with software when a problem occurs and they cannot put it right !! I do hope that Jeanette is well, and that this will get sorted out soon. Although I suspect that if she has to take regular medication it must create problems getting repeat prescriptions. Rita

!0 out of 10 Rita. Nail hit firmly on the head. She did "stock up while in England so there is a small safety net but if this goes on another month she will have to pay full price for and medicines she needs. Lord we need to resolve this situation.

Well it's back to work today - not sure what to expect, or what the future looks like. It's to just the management looking to see if I am viable to remain, but also me evaluating if I can or want to. I dislike the corporate world, especially within the arena of care - I said a very long time that once you make care a business rather than a vocation something gets lost- and I was right- the essence of care becomes tarnished. Any vocation the employee may have is gradually grounded down by all the wrong expectations and priorities of the employer. You are kicking against someone else's wrong ideals and motives. Sad really- I am kind of grateful that I grew up and started work at a time when it was different, so I have experienced the work place when you were valued- when managers realised that if you were treated fairly the work commitment was good - oh I know this didn't happen everywhere, I was fortunate. At least I know there is a different way, youngsters only see how it is now. I am waffling- I guess the next week or two will be crunch time, a place I did not expect to be in and it's taken me by surprise- but thankfully God is not surprised, he knew it was coming, and allowed it. I asked the Lord to go ahead of me, I will follow him - most of the time I am going way ahead and asking him to follow me !!! Lol Right......one step at a time Lord........ Xx Rita

We the the hotel business get the same. 10 years ago the customer came first in all things but now the paperwork is the most important and company audits are everyone's concern at every moment. The tick boxes are the only thing that really matters with letters of concern and financial enquiries if a certain box is not filled in at a certain time in the myriads of forms that we handle.
My new telephone answer is laughable it's
THE COMPANY GROUP NAME
THE TOWN
THE LOCAL AREA
THE HOTEL NAME
THE BAR NAME
THE RESTAURANT NAME
THE PLAY AREA NAME
MY NAME
HOW MAY I HELP YOU?
Yet between 11pm and 7am my shift everything I mention is closed so I cannot transfer a call and I have then to tell them
THE COMPANY GROUP NAME
THE TOWN
THE LOCAL AREA
THE HOTEL NAME......is open
however ......THE BAR NAME
THE RESTAURANT NAME
THE PLAY AREA NAME ...is now closed
it once was simply THE HOTEL NAME how can I help?...
