Hi there, I hope you don't mind me becoming a near neighbour. This is the only way I shall ever get to Canada, or have a log cabin in the woods. There is a fire in the hearth, and comfy chairs before it, a lamp that will never go out, a rag rug, a home made cake and coffee brewing, so feel free to drop by. Now to stretch out my toes to the heat and open my Bible, to feel the warmth of His presence, and drink deeply from His spring. I feel I must return to the chapter my Bible opened to this morning, and read from there: Jeremiah 23:21 onward. 'I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied. But if they had stood in My council, and had caused My People to hear My words, then they would have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings.' * This falls on my ears, and brings into my mind the unspoken thoughts engendered in me recently by news reports from near and far. Thoughts that I have been afraid to give room too because of the gravity of them, and also by their political incorrectness which if voiced would bring down upon me not only the scorn of the people of the world around me, but make me liable to prosecution. For we have allowed laws to be passed which inhibit freedom of speech, and make it impossible to call sin sinful. I can't peel this onion of thought out loud, but each successive layer reveals the depth to which the believing community has sunk, in not standing up for God's truth, both in the home and in society around us, both near and far, and we are reaping the whirlwind. In Christ Jesus Chris

Hi Chris Just dropping by. You cabin sound so warm and cozy ...love it! We lived in a cabin once for a year , way up north on the Alaskan Highway@ Mile 82 and then 30 Kl into the wilderness. Our cabin was not anything like your cozy cabin. It often was full of wood smoke .. but they were warm , even in minus 40 below. That said...using the outhouse when it was that cold was not fun at all!! Now I will move on my travels , and pop back to read your Jeremiah 23 musings. bless you xx

Thanks for the invite Chris and here's me dropping by for as long as it takes to shake the mud from my sandals which has accumulated whilst walking close to a particular guy on Living Water Forum. Decaf coffee for me if possible please and "The lord opened the mouth of this ass" for a large slice of home made cake.

Man keeping the laws of the Lord, that train has long gone and left the station. It all looks a heck of a mess but somehow out of the destruction and disorder of the whirlwind the plan of God will surely be revealed. The walk from glory to glory and from faith to faith until the shadows flee away, by the glory of the dawning day.

Hi there, Welcome! It is St David's day, and I have just had a telephone call all the way from Arizona, from a dear couple that we met on holiday here last year. The meeting was entirely of the Lord's making, and I am still not entirely sure why it took place, except for our mutual blessing and encouragement, but we now have two lovely friends who keep in touch with warm outgoing natures. We met by arrangement at Brecon cathedral cafe garden, only for a short time, but it was as though time was stretched, and deepened, for the conversation we had was so amazing, it could have filled the space of a much longer time. I met Bill on a forum, in a thread concerned with the numbers 11:11, attracted to it because of the coincidental repetition of that number in the lives of my husband and myself for some time. Bill was drawn to it for the same reason, and as his user name was a Welsh name, I pm'd him about it, and this led to him corresponding with me for a while, before telling me that he and his wife were coming over to Wales for a holiday, and perhaps we could meet up. Circumstances made meeting difficult, so we did not meet until the very end of their holiday, meeting half-way. In our opening remarks after ordering coffee and a snack, it became clear that Stephenie was of the same mind and heart as myself, in Christ Jesus; which was a miracle in itself, and took our breath away. Having the same association with Berean literature, she having actually helped out at the book shop which sold Berean literature in America. The only one, as far as I know!! We were so very blessed by the meeting, it was so obviously of the Lord. Coming back and sharing our meeting with family members gave a lovely opportunity for me to share my faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, naturally, on the wave of obvious enthusiasm engendered by that meeting. Thank you for dropping by. In Christ Jesus Chris

Those God appointments are really great and of such a blessing that they stay forever in our memories. It does sound as if you had a absolutely wonderful time, what a blessing.

Oh, but it's cold out there!! Out comes the cocoa and a slice of boiled cake!
Time to just build up the fire and rest a while and consider.
I've just been to Dave's place and thought a while about God making His ways known to Moses and His acts unto the children of Israel. I don't want to see His acts only, I want to sit like Mary at Jesus feet and learn of Him, I want the word of God to dwell in me richly, that others may receive the overflow.
'Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in Thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.' (Psalm 19:14)

May it ever be the desire of our hearts.

Thank you, Helen , I'm glad you came by. I have found the Psalm you are referring to (Psalm 27) . It begins, 'The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?' and it ends, in verse 14, with the words, 'Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.' David seems to be battling with fears within and without, and struggling to keep his mind stayed upon the Lord, in the knowledge that only there does his strength lie.
I read earlier about your friend, Helen, and it is she who is on my mind as I read this Psalm. She is walking through the valley of the shadow of death, may she fear no evil, may she know that the Lord is with her, as her abiding strength, and may she be comforted in heart and mind as she waits on Him. In Christ Jesus Chris

Coming home this evening the sky was overcast and hazy, and the sun going down in the sky shone through weakly, with a sulphur glow. It looked as though a storm was brewing. It appears to have come and gone now, and the moon in the sky is almost a full moon, shining silver bright. Which reminds me of what God said through Jeremiah about Israel:- 'Thus saith the LORD, .. which giveth the sun for a light by day, .... and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, ...... which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is His name: .. If those ordinances depart from before Me, saith the LORD, .... then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before Me for ever. Thus saith the LORD; ...... If heaven above can be measured, ........ and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, .......... I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the LORD.(Jeremiah 31:35-37) * How sure is that? Praise God!Good night.

Good words Chris , it did remind me of a baby book that Evangeline has about Daddy fox and Rufus his son. It has the expression in it "I love you to the moon and back". God says "my love is greater than the most impossible thing that man can conceive". What a blessing!

What a blessing! Our second grandchild Lisa is 30 this year...and would you believe, I still say that little phrase to her in texts...she loved it back when she was a tiny girl ( it also was said in some child's story book...maybe the same one ) Look or for "Josephine" books ...about an adorable mouse , ...

Helen, I can't begin to imagine how hard that is, for I have never had to experience that, and hope I never do. My brother died recently with cancer which had entered into the area behind the ear and into the brain, I know he was in great pain, but pain relief made it possible for him to put on a brave face for us when we visited, so we never had to suffer the pain of seeing him at his worst. Mercifully he died and was relieved of his suffering. The fact that we have the hope of resurrection life: that our life is not for this life only; is a great knowledge for the believer to hold on to I feel, don't you? That this body of death will be replaced by an incorruptible resurrection body, which will never have to experience sickness, pain or sadness ever again. With love in Christ Jesus Chris

My sister and her husband are not in good health, and because of the Corona virus threat to the elderly have now decided that it would be better if we did not meet up for a while. Their daughter will now be ordering their food online and will be delivering it to the door, but not entering, in order to try to prevent it reaching them. Though I can understand why, it seems a little premature for we have not had the threat level category raised nationally yet in the UK, and we do not know how long this threat is likely to continue do we? She has made me consider my husband though, who now does our shopping: for using the supermarket trolleys, and handling packaged goods which are handled by every other shopper does place the one shopping at greater risk, along with door handles, and stair rails. Hand washing is easy to remember and adhere to, but not touching the face is harder, for it is surprising just how often we touch our faces for one reason or another; it is such a natural action, that it is done without thinking. May God's will for each one of us be done, For His name and glory's sake. In Christ Jesus Chris

The trouble with this flu, which sets it apart from the other flu's is the thing can not been seen. It's not just the touching of door handles and baskets which is the trouble ...though it is, but it's the ten day symptom free period when a person is passing it without knowing! The staff at check out counters may have picked it up without knowing it, and now are passing it as they handle the credit cards , money etc. This is the thing which sets this flu apart from others. ...it's silent passing from one to another. We tend to turn away and keep our distance in the grocery store, if we see someone coughing, sneezing, or blowing their nose...but with this one...the people are symptom free while passing it! The lady here was quarantined for three weeks,( from the cruise ship) then let go, symptom free...flew home here with passengers ( passing it) even went to shopping and work for a couple of days, before symptoms show. By then it was too late for those she had been in contact with. All the employees where she worked were sent home to self quarantine ...playing the waiting game ..'do I don't I " I have to go for blood tests on Monday. I will wear mask and gloves. The people I sit with may look healthy , but with this, there is no knowing. God bless and keep you safe...H

Being the strange and odd person that I am, am I the only one who has never heard of 'boiled' cake? What am I missing? A Bro who lives in Conway Wales on our times of meeting has never railed on me of the virtues of the said 'boiled' cake . Both H and I are in the age bracket that if the virus strikes; except for the Lords divine intervention we are 'brown bread' as they say. So we will use the wisdom of both this world and the Lords, it's interesting as to why the hands have such an affiliation to the face. Peter knew the blessed assurance of the ' being kept by the power of God until-------' I also understand your sisters concern but there are to many variables even for; in quote 'isolation' Helen and I usually retreat to Psl 91 and Isa 59 vs 19 . Until the storm passes by. The Gaither band does a nice rendition of this song but I have minimal techno skills in being able to post it. But being kept in the hollow of His hand sounds good to me. .

Hi Chris, I must admit I have concerns for my dad and son in law- but also for work and the residents. I use public transport all the time - and, as Helen says, it’s that period of time when you don’t know you are infected. I do my dads shopping on line anyway, but I cannot make him stay indoors yet- he only goes out once or twice a week anyway. He also has hospital apps, and an op coming up in April. My brother is unwell in Germany at the moment, he came in contact with some who has just returned from Israel - but his test show it is ordinary flu, so that is still doing the rounds as well. He was fine one moment, then felt awful and had to go to bed. He is dues to come over here in April, but not sure they will start restricting the euro star if things continue to get bad in europe. We have never been able to stop the flu going around, not sure we can with this either.

Welcome Dave , Thank you for stopping by. Here is the recipe for the boiled cake, for you and Helen to try if you wish to. I find that the mixture is too much for a 2 lb loaf tin, but is fine in an 8", loose bottomed tin. 1/2 lb butter or margarine 3/4 lb mixed fruit 8 oz sugar (white or soft brown) 1/2 cup of hot water 3/4 lb flour 2 eggs Put butter, sugar, fruit and water into a saucepan. Melt, just bring to the boil and then turn off heat. Allow to cool for a few minutes. Stir in 1/2 of the flour. Add the beaten eggs, and the other 1/2 of the flour. Plus a drop of lemon juice, and stir well. Put mixture into a greased tin and cook covered for 1 & 1/2 hours 300 electric, or Gas mark 2 ------------- Thank you for Psalm 91 and Isaiah 59:19 references. We are indeed kept in the hollow of His hands. Praise God! May His will be done, whatever it may be. Love to you both. In Christ Jesus Chris
