1) stayingintouch2.freeforums.net/ gets you to the site.
2) Without logging in you can go to the bottom of the ‘Home’ page and click on ‘Recent Posts’ which is under ‘Forum Information and Statistics’ and then under ‘Threads and Posts’.
3) When you’ve done that you will see ‘« Prev1 2 3 4 5 6 Next », each of which will take you through a list of 30 posts.
4) But, let’s skip back…..if you are ‘new’ we invite you to register, so click on ‘register’ at extreme right of the top Navigation bar.
5) Subsequent visits to the site will require you to ‘Login’ (next to where you saw ‘Register’) and clicking on it will take to a self-explanatory pop-up which will get you ‘signed-in’.
6) Now, when you click on ‘Recent Posts’ (as per ‘2’) you will find that each post has a ‘Quote’ option which you may use if you want to reply with a quote; clicking on ‘Create Post’ (at bottom right).
7) Otherwise, if you want to reply without ‘Quote’, you can click on the blue heading at top of the post and that will take you to that thread, above which you can click on ‘Reply’ at extreme right of the blue bar.
8) If however you’ve got into a thread whereby you see the ‘Quick Reply’ option my advice would be to click on ‘Reply’ (at extreme right of the option) otherwise you lost many of the normal ‘Posting Panel’ options.
9) If you can see a number against ‘Messages’ in the top Nav Bar of the Home Page then click on it to see any ‘PM’ that someone has sent you.
10) If you see a number against ‘Profile’ that will show you if someone has replied to one of your posts (I think that’s how it works)
11) If you click on a members name (in blue) you will see and option to ‘Enter your message here’ which you can use to send a ‘PM’ to that member. Also you will see options to read that member’s recent posts or threads.
I think that’s enough ‘tips’ for now……Happy hunting.

Ivor....I do it a different way now. i have just come " on site"... On the right within the dark blue it says...Welcome Helen. Logout.
now UNDER THAT IT SAYS :- [ NEW Participated ] : click that box and you will get a drop down list . It shows all threads , and will have NEW next to unread posts.
now MY PROBLEM IS trying to get the font to work. i click Font size...and then I click on size 12. But, when I write it only "sometimes" comes as 12... I find I have to write my post, highlight it, and THEN click font and size 12.
i can do it on my laptop, but I can't hardly ever get my iPad to highlight...without accidentally deleting my post.
im writing in BOLD because my size 12 font once more did not take when clicked on. what am in doing wrong?

Using an iPad? Haha... I wish that were the problem but often I can't use size 12 on my laptop either. Sometimes 14 works okay.
had you already seen the [ Partisipated ] as a way of seeing a drop down board of threads and new posts.?

Helen click the cursor on the page to start writing
press the Ctrl button and hold it down while tapping the letter A once
You are now free to change its size and colour and anything before you start writing and everything will be that size

Helen you don't need to highlight, Highlighting doesn't work on my pc either, you just need to choose font size before you begin to type.

James I think it only highlights those threads we have commented on... which is useful when the site fills with threads

Oh, I see...as Ivor said...it's probably only the threads that we are participating in already..good point Ivor...I will now do it Mikes way, so I don't miss anything.
IVOR thanks for that info on size of font. I will use that.
Pat I have been doing that already but it "sometimes" works on size 12, not always, but it does seem to work on size 14 okay. Yet that is a little bit big though! Ha!

I am now thinking that Mike had the best "Tip" of all for using the site, on day one.
Which was, "lets not have too many threads." Or something like that.. Then I could catch them all in the [Participated] thingy. LOL Dave will be 'safe' by only posting in his "Dave's Place" thread....then he wont get lost.
Hats off to those who have mastered it all, already! Don't wait for me..I will catch you all up soon. Haha!!
EDIT I am so happy...I just saw that the [Participated] place has a scroll bar now. Now that there are more threads...just now as I scrolled it down there are 15 threads.

If you can't see the option to reply to a post which interests you click on the cogwheel icon to extreme top right, then click on 'Back on Top' in the drop-down options, and you'll find 'Reply' at extreme top right.

Bookmarking a thread.
To bookmark a thread, first navigate to a thread on the message board that you find interesting and would like to bookmark. Once viewing the thread, click the Actions drop-down menu found just above the first post of the thread, and from the menu select the Bookmark option. Once you choose the Bookmark option from the action menu, you will notice a Bookmark image display in the top-left hand corner of the thread, just above the post at the top of the page. You will also notice that the Bookmark option in the action menu has now changed to read Remove Bookmark, allowing you to remove the bookmark if made by accident. Once you have a topic bookmarked, you can access the bookmarked thread at any time using the Bookmarks button found in the menu bar at the top of the forum. This button will only appear if there are topics bookmarked to your account.
I've just tried it by 'bookmarking' this thread and now (after I've logged out and logged in again) I can see 'Bookmarks' showing up in my top nav bar

A SELECTION OF KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS FOR PROBOARDS

Thanks Mike. I'm not convinced that everyone will "do it" the same way. I am already getting into some groove myself. Some may do it a long way around, some get it smoothly done. I think it all comes with practice, it will soon be second nature.
Myself, I stick to the 'Participated' on the right, my step one...then I check the new threads and posts via the 'Staying in Touch ' which is the far left of Participated on the same line. Works for me! Everything is covered.

If you want to make a quote followed by your comments but have difficulty in getting below the quote in order to make your comment, then try clicking on 'BBCode' at the bottom, and then type the first word of your comment below the tiny words of the [/quote], and then click on 'Preview' to get back to larger words in order to finish typing your comment.
Also, if you find yourself on the small BBCode words when you click on 'Edit', then clicking on 'Preview' reverts you to the larger words. (I think)
