Why would one not accept that God was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself. Our life is hid with Christ in God.

Twinc what piqued my grey ones was Philip's desire to be 'shown the Father and that would be enough for us' Old Tom' who did like to 'see' stuff is just interested in 'the way' Is that related too" In my Father's house" or "no one comes to the Father except through Me" as Thomas question's the 'not knowing the way?'
But Philips statement seems premised on his lack of ability to see the Father, he would have known all about the temple and it's many natural abodes and the truth about the invisible God, but being shown, it would seem would seal the deal for them all. Jesus in the image of the Father is able to reveal the invisible Father by who He was, and what he did. We are in Him and He is in us and like Jesus says to his disciples, there will be greater works if you believe the in me, me in you bit.
Keep safe Twinc.
