A year or so back I transferred from Android to Smart Phone because that was the only way I could use an 'App' to guide my electric car to the nationwide network of charge points. But then (typical for me) I lost the phone. I didn't mind too much because I found that for my use of the car I never travelled outside the range afforded by a nightly recharge in my garage. In any case I found using the touch screen keys impossible for my eyesight and clumsy one finger 'sight only' typing. After several months without a mobile phone I revisited Tesco, who had supplied my lost smart phone, and asked if there was any way that I could get an upgraded replacement which was more user friendly towards my typing limitations, and that might include a tracking device if I lost it again. Although they don't provide such a thing they most helpfully suggested I purchased a Blackberry Classic which has a normal user friendly 'Qwerty' keyboard beneath the normal smart phone touch screen and which includes a lost or stolen phone tracking facility. This weekend it should arrive and I'm quite excited in anticipation of adding smart phone capability to my repertoire (it also has many other useful facilities such as voice activation and a sat-nav which my car doesn't have)......Wowserville.

Okay....AND? Did you get it, and can you use it? We don't have phones....I guess as we get older we may need to. Trouble is, we would probably divorce...because last time. Dave turns it off if HE doesn't want to make a call....so no one could call him when needed!!! Also, he's always leave it in the car when in a Mall or store. So no one could contact him there either. Plus, because of his lack of hearing...whenever he DID happen to have it on him...he'd never hear it ring!!! Dare we risk it!! Ha!!

BlackBerry arrived and seems great. BUT, I find that I can't use it as a replacement for my lost phone on its Tesco monthly contract because it requires a type of sim card that Tesco are unable to provide. So now I've settled on my cheapo Tesco deal in conjunction with my original android until the contract releases me in 8 months time; with a new, even cheaper Plus Net monthly deal for my BlackBerry which I shall keep in my car for Sat Nav and other travel emergencies and travel aps. Then in 8 month's time I shall confine to the Plus Net deal (Plus net being able to provide me with a BlackBerry sim card).

I don't use the internet on my mobile but just for calls and texts. I have a cheap cell phone. Texting is a pain. I use it for calls mostly on my jobs. I could get internet enabled on it; but it's a very primitive phone, and it wouldn't work right. I see so many people addicted to their cell phones, I told myself, "I don't want to do that." I'm afraid I would get addicted and wind up dead from not paying attention like the girl who got ran down by a train. The Daily Mail and other papers had the story. So sad. An 11-year-old girl was hit and killed by an Amtrak train in Florida while she was looking down at her phone.
Yazmin White left Carmelita's Food Mart in Haines City and was walking through the woods when she tried to cross over railroad tracks at an intersection.
The Amtrak train's conductor told Polk County Sheriff's Office that he immediately slammed on the breaks and blew the horn repeatedly to try and warn White.
But she was distracted and didn't notice the train, ABC Action News reported.

It's the same here Kerry, so many people walking around looking at the phones in their hands and not where they're going - they come straight at you and give you dirty looks cos you didn't get out of the way. And mums with little babies and toddlers taking no notice of them because they are busy texting or chatting. Mine is a small smart phone but I have disabled the internet. And most of the time I don't even take it out with me - only if I am planning to meet up with somebody.

I don't use the internet on my mobile but just for calls and texts. I even find the internet hard on an iPad, let alone a tiny cell phone . Rita seems to have mastered it though. I find it hard copying and pasting and things like that on an iPad...Im sure I couldn't even read a small phone print.

As well as my smart phone I also have a tablet, a laptop and a desk top PC. But I usually use the laptop from the comfort of my sofa.

Poppy same as me, I have the desktop the laptop the ipad and a smart phone. I find it interesting that no matter which one I use the history of all the internet sites I visit are automatically added to each one. Plus all videos and photos I take are duplicated throughout, very handy.

I've been sold a dud ! ! I've just had to send the following message to the seller:
" New message to: s.c.l.landrovers0
The BlackBerry Classic which you supplied has anti-theft protection set up by a previous owner and only that owner can unlock it. That means it is completely unusable and cannot therefore have been checked by yourself prior to sale (it also has a cracked screen). I await your response and trust that I won't have to take up the matter with Ebay. "

Do you think it might be a stolen one Mike? Here's the reply I've received: "Ahh that rubbish, I thought I wiped it properly, my ex girlfriend used it before so I wiped it, I did have difficulty wiping it. I'm not sure really as I have no contact with her, As for the cracked screen I did list that in the description! There are ways of by passing it if you are comfortable with doing that, or you welcome to return it and I'll provide a refund?" To which I replied: Only threw the cracked scree in as make-weight. But the best expertise that I can find reckons only the person who set the anti theft stuff can unlock it. Unless you can clearly detail how to "wipe it" I will have to return it for refund.

Sounds dodgy to me. Send it back but also contact e-bay to make sure you get your refund.

He's got 100% record on Ebay so I won't upset that unless I have trouble getting my refund. Until then I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
