Hello Mike I only half understood all that......being "a bear of very little brain", as AA Milne put it. I don't think that we are that far apart. You seem to think so much more than I , in believing that there is a great or small divide. As my old dad used to say..." I had a feeling in my water " ...that we would see you after our old/younge ( much younger) friend Nicky dropped by.
It's lovely have a bit of a revival of " old friends" for how long or short it will be
....in His grace and favour...H

I don't understand why you need a new name Mike - we all know it's you. Or perhaps we should all abandon our normal names and go for something more descriptive of our theology.

So as the person formerly known as Mike, why do you need a new name - again?

What's in a name??? A lot, in biblical times the name was descriptive of the nature; and the Lord had a habit of name changing. Saul in the N,T, becomes Paul. So M has now become DTs. . In the garden God created the Adams in the image of Christ and gave THEM dominion over--------- after the "Whoops" it says " And the lord God said; " Behold "THE MAN" is become as one of us to know good and evil------ and it would appear there was still access to the tree of life at that time. God closes that way up and the first new name appears Cain. Well I for one DTs, are rejoicing that you found God in your image. .

This is not a dig at you Mike, I was reminded of a story I once read in a magazine we used to get each week in the little mission hall I was at, it was called The Flame.
This story was true and it was about a preacher who visited to speak at a renown college. After his address one student asked, I started out as a C of E, then was a Baptist, this was followed by a time at an A.O.G. chapel I then decided to try the Brethren, what do you suggest I should call myself?
The preacher answered why does it matter what you are called,it makes no differenc what name you stick onto an empty bottle.

I wanted to know what a Deistic Theist is so I just Googled it and as they have conflicting beliefs they are perhaps a little confused.

If the Site (Font) is too big for anyone just click "command plus - " ( ie the minus sign. ) and then it will be perfect.

I'm not sure there is such a thing since a Deist believes God does not intervene in creation whereas a theist believes that God does intervene in creation - so a Deist Theist is contradictory - one cannot be both so I agree - confused.com

My thoughts exactly Nicky after I looked them up.
Nice not to have to adjust the font size but now we have to scroll up instead of down to get to the latest post. So same difference really.

Hi Mike Your description of a DeistTheist is infact Deist alone, not theist. Deist believe in a God that created the universe but then left it to its own devices. Isn't that what you are saying you believe? Theist believe God is personal, Deist do not...here lays the confusion, you cannot both be a Deist and a Theist..what you describe of your faith is a Deist, not a theist ... now I'm confused .. bzzzzz

"What's in a name" The family over the street have moved to the city of RedDeer which is halfway between Edmonton and Calgary; in the winter highway 2 which links the cities is very often miserable to drive and I have spent many nights in RedDeer!!!!!!!! Now you are thinking whats that got to do with, "what's in a name" Now when this family moved in opposite, they were young hippies; we had a christian lady in the below apartment and had put a plug in cord for her car at the side of the house but Mr Hippie who has a vehicle like a tank was parked there; so she asked him if he would back up and give her space, he wouldn't, he said he payed his road tax and could park where he liked, which is true but was very nasty to her and to me. Hence; he became Mr Nasty and was referred by that name; but one day the Lord said to me that I was not to call him by that but to pray for him; which I then did, at that time he had disappeared so I asked his wife where he was and she said helping in Africa and on his return; as he wasn't Mr Nasty anymore I asked where he had been; he told me he had spent 3 months in Africa helping with the Ebola outbreak; and I said I had been praying for him; from that time on we exchanged greetings, at the birth of their second child, a boy, the Lord told me to buy him a dog, so I bought him one; a ' made in Canada' Husky. So now I have to go and say, I've bought your son a dog!!!! if you don't think that was weird, it was, and he looked at me like it was weird. I'd like to say that I said that the Lord told me to do it but the memory has dimmed.
But we developed a relationship and as he was leaving and we said our farewells, he paid me the highest, he said if you are ever stuck in Red Deer come and stay with us; he now has a job at the Mustard Seed in Red Deer who work with the homeless. And God has definitely touched his heart.

Its odd having other names
I'm John but years ago the forums were limited by the names a user could use and I was on various forums covering various subjects and often under JOHN 123 - JOHN 321 - JOHN 432 and many JON - JoN - Jon'n'yvone etc and I could never remember my name
I tried everything until I found the comical name of IVOR HUGH JARSE and found it would never have been taken on most forums and that it would instantly be shortened to IVOR which was a bonus.
Now while out on the bike or in town both my wife and I look when anyone shouts IVOR and its so rare a name that its always me they are talking to

Interesting Ivor. My alias came about after I'd been on holiday in the Cotswolds and fell in love with the area. I felt so at home there - I was actually born in a part of it - and wanted to live in one of the pretty cottages and be called Poppy as I thought that a poppy was a good flower to suit my personality. So after that Ray started calling me Poppy and when I joined my first forum that became my alias.
