It's "pearls before swine" when someone asks a question but really doesn't want an answer other than to play with it, pearls are for a receptive audience - I personally won't make the effort of batting the tennis ball backwards and forwards for the sake of it ... we are only commanded to give an answer for the faith in us anything else is our choice but sanctify in your hearts Christ as Lord: being ready always to give answer to every man that asketh you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, yet with meekness and fear:here we go again - a refusal to be prepared[1Peter 3:15]claiming to be already prepared and giving all the wrong answers - like being already in the false gospel trying to advise others - to help best sleep 24hrs every day - btw is it not time Jn 5:46 was believed - twinc Your soap box needs pitching where its message is needed, All the members here believe John 5:46.

Soap boxes were more slippery than other boxes and that may have something to do with its choice - you cannot physically kick anyone from it or you may fall yourself

Twinc in verse 37 Jesus tells of the witness of His father in sending Him and the fact that 'they had neither 'heard' his voice at any time, nor 'seen' his shape. "For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me" In the Ex 20 vs 1-5 it's hard to wrap one's little greys around that these verses are actually the verses that Jesus is referring to as, Moses wrote of me. But the premise holds today, who will you believe today, the written word and the living word.

Anybody know why a soap box over any box??? Wikipedia says "A soapbox is a raised platform on which one stands to make an impromptu speech, often about a political subject. The term originates from the days when speakers would elevate themselves by standing on a wooden crate originally used for shipment of soap or other dry goods from a manufacturer to a retail store".

You keep on about unity, I have no idea why? I do not find that it is the desire of God that the world should be brought into unity. I can not see that Jesus came to bring Unity to the world, he made of twain one new man, a spiritual experience for those who desire to be dead with him that we might live in newness of life. Unity in this world , I think not. Find yourself another "hobby horse". Its like a soapbox but different!

John 17 is proceeded with " These things I have spoken unto you, that IN ME ye might have peace. "In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world" As I read 17 Jesus is speaking of a oneness relationship as He had with the Father, after 3years they the disciples had not attained the attribute of being one, no 'religious' group has attained that status and yet Jesus answers the question but still prays for them to be one and the key being the 'In Me' bit. The upper room certainly seems to have achieved this for a time of being one. Was it just the anticipation of the Holy Spirit being poured out that made this a reality, so what will it take in this dispensation, maybe the tribulation from this world?

God the Holy Spirit that is indwelling in you recognises God the Holy Spirit indwelling in me and we cry Amen for we are one through Christ alone. This is how we recognise each other in Christ by seeing the indwelling of God in each other
I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one.
50 days after Jesus sacrificed himself for us this began to be fulfilled in the church at Pentecost which coincided with Shavuot which has a double significance. It marks the all-important gathering of the wheat harvest in Israel (Exodus 34:22), and it commemorates the anniversary of the day when God gave the Torah to the nation of Israel assembled at Mount Sinai—although the association is not explicit in the Biblical text between the giving of the Torah (Matan Torah) and Shavuot.
The holiday is one of the Shalosh Regalim, the three Biblical pilgrimage festivals. The word Shavuot means weeks, and it marks the conclusion of the Counting of the Omer. Its date is directly linked to that of Passover; the Torah mandates the seven-week Counting of the Omer, beginning on the second day of Passover, to be immediately followed by Shavuot. This counting of days and weeks is understood to express anticipation and desire for the giving of the Torah. On Passover, the people of Israel were freed from their enslavement to Pharaoh; seven weeks later on Shavuot, they were given the Torah and became a nation committed to serving God.[3] The yahrzeit of King David is traditionally observed on Shavuot. Hasidic Jews also observe the yahrzeit of the Baal Shem Tov.[4]

It will take Jesus return and for Him to take His rightful throne for those in heaven along with those on the earth and those under the earth to acknowledge that Jesus is Lord.
We are not simply speaking of mankind here but every creature created by God making acknowledgement that Jesus is Lord
Ellicot makes a wonderful commentary upon this passage
Of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth.—For “things” we may better substitute beings, for the reference is properly to personal beings; although in some sense “All the works of the Lord bless the Lord, praise Him and magnify Him for ever.” (Comp. here Revelation 5:13, “Every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth . . . heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power be unto Him that sitteth upon the throne, and to the Lamb for ever and ever.”
